Introducing Our New Director of Children’s Ministries

Jordan Newman

As many of you know, we have been searching for a Director of Children’s Ministries for some time now. So many kiddos in a congregation is a GOOD thing and we knew that we were going to need someone to wrangle these cats, support them in their faith formation, and design and run our children’s programming. We are so excited to announce the hiring of Jordan Newman as our new Director of Children’s Ministries at MPC. Jordan is currently the Lead Teacher in our two-year old classroom in the preschool and has been with us for 3 years. She holds an associates degree in Early Childhood Education from GMC and has lived in Morgan County since 2007. Jordan has two kiddos of her own- Noah (6) and Grace (5). We are so excited for her to join our MPC family!

Looking ahead, Jordan is working on a children’s Christmas pageant scheduled for December 22nd and she will head up JAM in the new year as well as teach Children’s Church each Sunday. When you see Jordan around, be sure to introduce yourself! She’s a ball of fun and we know that our children are going to absolutely love her!

Let's continue to do good, be bold, and love all.

Introducing Our New Interim Director of Christian Formation

I am thrilled to join Rev. Pittman in the ministry at Madison Presbyterian Church! I’ve been cheering for Courtney and this congregation since her early conversations with the PNC. The love, energy, and support at MPC are contagious, and I’m excited to help build on this strong foundation.

A cradle Presbyterian, social worker, and mom of three teens, I grew up in a Navy family, sparking my love for travel and new experiences. After college, I served as a Young Adult Volunteer in Northern Ireland, working with youth gangs and doing peace and reconciliation work, which inspired me to earn a Master’s in Social Work from Loyola Chicago. Since then, I’ve worked in youth counseling, leadership programs, and community engagement.

Most recently, I served as Director of Youth Ministries at First Presbyterian Church of Athens, building a vibrant, connected youth program. I’ve also been active nationally, leading coaching cohorts, writing curriculum for the Office of Christian Formation, and serving on the Presbyterian Youth Workers Association board. I’m excited to bring these experiences to MPC.

On a personal note, I’m supported by my husband, Erik, who directs the Institute for Higher Education at UGA, and our three kids—Ben (a freshman at GA Tech), Kate (11th grade), and Tenny (9th grade). We also have two lively dogs, Desta and Gobez, who enjoy having me work from home.

I can’t wait to meet everyone!
