Madison Presbyterian Church Children’s Ministry - PRESBYKIDS!
Madison Presbyterian loves our young families and children! We have Sunday School for both children and parents, as well as Wednesday night JAM - Jesus and Me. There is a children’s sermon each Sunday during worship service, after which our Children’s Ministry Director presents Walk Through the Bible for Pre-K through 5th Grade.
WHAT ARE SUNDAYS LIKE FOR CHILDREN?
Childcare is available for infants through preschool-aged during Sunday worship. The nursery is located in the first floor of the Education Building.
Sunday School starts at 10 AM, prior to worship at 11 AM. The curriculum for 2026-2027 is Walk Through the Bible.
We welcome all children to join our worship, embracing their wiggles and giggles regardless of age.
Children's worship materials and activities are available in the hallway of the Education Building just within the doors next to the Sanctuary.
A special Children’s Church message is part of every service, and programming in the Education Building follows the Children’s Church message during the school year. The curriculum for 2026-2027 is Wonder Ink.
We encourage families to celebrate communion together the first Sunday of each month.
WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE ON SUNDAY FOR MY CHILD’S AGE?

Meet upstairs in the education building for a Walk Through the Bible.11 AM, Worship Service
“Let the Children Come” message during worship, followed by Children’s Church with Ms. Shaner in the education building. The curriculum for 2026-2027 is Wonder Ink.1st Sundays, children stay throughout worship and may take part in communion
Before heading into the sanctuary for worship, pick up a Children’s Bible or any of the other materials from the “PresbyKids Book Nook.” You’ll find them in the Education Building Hallway, next to the restrooms and just inside the doors that lead out to the sanctuary building.
Sermon Notebooks are available for each student to take notes, doodle, and process the worship text and sermon. Students may store their notebook in the “PresbyKids Book Nook” or take home. Our prayer is that these notebooks will serve as great “jumping off points” for meaningful, family conversation as our children start to develop their own ideas and beliefs.
Middle, High School
We have opportunities to volunteer with younger children and to participate in worship by reading liturgy
WHAT CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS ARE AVAILABLE DURING THE WEEK?
JAM: Jesus & Me returns Wednesday, September 9, from 5:30 - 7 PM!
All Pre-K through 5th grade children are invited for an evening filled with dinner, music, crafts, games, and lots of fun as we grow together in God’s love.
Middle and high school students are also invited to volunteer—and earn service hours while they’re at it!
Come join the JAM fun! Everyone is welcome!
Please complete the Registration Form at the button below prior to attending. The form includes important activity participation and photo/video consent so we can provide a safe, fun, and meaningful experience for every child. We can’t wait to grow, learn, and have fun together!

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY STAFF
Shaner Johnson
Director of Children’s Ministries
Shaner is mom to Tiller, age 6, who is a graduate of MPC preschool and is headed into 1st grade at MoCo Primary school. She has taught at MPC preschool for 5 years. She is a member of Covenant Park Church in Madison. Shaner worked alongside her husband, Britt, in student ministry for 14 years where she led small groups, was a leader for VBS, and attended numerous church camps and retreats. When she’s not in the classroom, Shaner loves to antique.
Her favorite Bible verse is
"But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD,
whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.

WE LOVE, AND NEED, VOLUNTEERS!
Our children’s programming needs lots of helping hands and hearts! The faith formation ministry is making it as easy as possible for volunteers to match their talents and time availability, from teaching once a month (all materials provided for you!) to kitchen help at JAM on Wednesday.
