Loving the Lord Through Service and Support
Jesus said, “You are the light of the world - Like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden” — Our hope is that our group can bring light to those who need us the most. We meet at the church, the first Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. We are unique in that we do not follow a prescribed Presbyterian Women’s Circle lesson. Our focus is to help those in need and to give support to individuals and groups who are following their own, often difficult, path.
Each month we reach out to community service professionals and religious organizations to be our speakers so we can 1) learn what their group mission is and 2) to see if there is an opportunity for us to serve. Organizations like Circle of Love, Meals on Main, the Morgan County Senior Center’s Grandparents Dinner, Meals on Wheels, Panda Packs for elementary school children, the Caring Place, and Harvest of the Heart Cannery Project are typical groups we serve.
In addition, we support our college students as they leave home by sending them cards of encouragement each month as well as “Care Packages” during exams in December and May. Each month we write to all the members and parents of members who live in Assisted Living or Nursing Homes. We also write cards to all our members and friends of members who are serving our country in the military. We rejoice when the military personnel return home safely from deployments and are thrilled when our students graduate.
Since 2009 this Circle has put on the Ladies Christmas Event. Ladies of the church use their creativity to decorate tables in the Fellowship Hall turning the room into a Christmas wonderland. Ladies from our church and the community come and enjoy an evening of fellowship, great food, and wonderful entertainment. The Circle members prepare the food and men from the church are the servers. It is a time for celebrating and preparing our hearts for the joyous Christmas season.
